Cristie Kerr, the world's new No.1

Phenomenal is the one word that sums up Cristie's play at this weeks Major. She was the ONLY player this week to have all rounds in the 60's! Cristie has the mental toughness and discipline, that brings focus to her game and does not allow herself to get distracted. She states that you have to play with intensity, which she does extremely well. She swings her driver with impeccable form. Her putting has to be the best on the LPGA Tour. Cristie grew up inspired by great players such as Juli Inkster, Beth Daniel, Meg Mallon and several others.

Cristie is ready, willing and able to live up to the title of being a role model for many young girls & women golfers. A title she has strived to attain and one I believe she will have for many years to come. Her goal was not just to achieve Worlds No. 1, but to get her game to the level to maintain such a title.

While she may not have broken the record for "largest margin" win, she will join the likes of Scruggs, Webb, Zaharius, King, and Sheehan. Louise Scruggs is still the holder with a 14 stroke margin.

Cristie ties the record for a final scoring record of -19 was previously set by Dottie Pepper & Karen Stupples.

Song-Hee Kim took sole possession of 2nd place, followed with a tie for 3rd between Ai Miyazato & Jiyai Shin (who is just two weeks out from her emergency appendectomy). Michelle Wie finished tied for 19th place. Another favorite, Christina Kim was in a nine-way tie for 25th and Katherine Hull tied with Amy Yang and several others for 34th.

All in all, a wonderful tourney presented by Wegmans. Next week the women are off to Toledo, OH before the quick approaching Open @ beautiful Oakmont!

Until next time, Go Hit Some Balls!
