Day two has ended with some new faces near the top, with Paula Creamer and Katherine Hull. M.J. Hur is on top by 1 stroke, followed by Paula and then Katherine. Today was Ai Miayazato's birthday and she ended being tied for 3rd place with Katherine Hull. This was only Paula's 5th round of golf since her thumb surgery and by the looks of her finishing 65 round.....it hasn't hurt her! I don't know about you, but a 65 is tough enough for me without having recent surgery on my thumb!
I have always been a big fan of Katherine Hull, and I believe a win could be in her very near future! She's more fit than she's ever been and her game is starting to show the benefits. Another favorite of mine is Karen Stupples, who will celebrate her bday next Thursday. She has the desire and skill to see a win in her season as well. What a great bday present that would be, at the LPGA Championship Presented by Wegman's next week!
Another personal favorite Christina Kim had a round of 70 today and will likely come out on fire for some birdie opportunities tomorrow. She has a fresh new hairdo (which looks great via her twitter post)!
Some of those who didn't make the cut after today, is our petitie little Jean Reynolds. In addition, Brittany Lang, Nicole Castrale, Lindsay Wright, Meghan Francella, Laura Diaz and Vicki Hurst.
One 15 y.o. who is playing in her first LPGA tourney as a pro, is Alexis Thompson. I'm sure nerves likely were wrestling with her; she had an opening round of 71. Although today she finished 5 over, 76...She's going to be one to watch in the coming years as both she and her game mature.
Defending Champion Seon Hwa Lee is currently tied for 9th place along Suzann Pettersen, Catriona Matthew, Song Hee Kim and Karen Icher.
