Justin Rose wins the Memorial Tournament

What a day for the "Young Guns" on the PGA Tour! Rickie Fowler (Orange Blaze) managed to hold the lead until he started running into problems on #14, when both he and Ricky Barnes went into the water. From that point on, it was up & down every hole thereafter. Could this be a bit of nerves on a Sunday of play.....I think anyone could say that nerves had to be one aspect of his demise on the last 4-5 holes.

After both Fowler & Barnes dropped a stroke after the water hole, Justin Rose took the reigns and started into a home stretch that proved both exciting and worthy. He ended up winning this tournament by 3 strokes at 18 under. After sinking yet another birdie on 18, he wrapped up his finish with no possible competitor surpassing him. He was greeted as he came off of the 18th green by Jack Nicholaus. Soft spoken and thanking Jack for a wonderful week at Muirfield Village. Justin was deserving of this win after his 10 yrs on the PGA Tour. His wife and young son were the next to greet him, with his son clapping nonstop. A day that the 29 y.o. Justin will remember for a very long time to come.

Rickie Fowler closed the tourney at 15 under and was the sole winner of 2nd place. Ricky Barnes & B. Van Pelt finished tied for 3rd.  R. Moore, Lefty and T. Petrovic were left tied for 5th place. Lefty finished the final round with a 69 after a decent comeback which followed a tough #15 when he did not hit the fairway and was actually in the 16th, before getting onto the green.

It was clear that Rickie Fowler will not only stay in our minds with his bright display of colors, but his ability to lead in a tournament and contend with the talent and expertise of some of his mentors. This Young Gun will be bringing in a win I predict in this 2010 season. Today was his third, 2nd place finish.
